The Porsche Design Flat Six P’6310 Automatic is sporting a robust and precise Swiss-made caliber and is offered in Porsche’s signature black-and-orange color scheme, which is usually reserved for the creme-de-la-creme editions of their sports cars. Although a bit overpriced, it is still a nice choice for any die-hard fan of the German automotive brand.

TAG Heuer Silverstone Chronograph: revisited
Based on a classic model from the 1970s, the new TAG Heuer Silverstone Chronographs (refs. CAM2111.FC6259 & CAM2110.FC6258) not only look great. They also look different from myriads of standard sporty timepieces that -expensive or cheap, hand-crafted or mass-produced- have flooded the market during the recent decade or two. Although the movement that powers the 2010 collection is modern, it is the vintage aura that makes me want to own one of these.
Ulysse Nardin Monaco YS Maxi Marine Diver
The Ulysse Nardin Monaco YS Maxi Marine offers you a cool combination of DLC treated stainless steel, black ceramic and, of course, 18-karat rose gold. As usual, the manufacturer did not limit the alloy to only some elements of its grim dial: it also decorates its trademark bezel with the usual “waves” pattern and the number plaque at 9 o’clock on a side of the body. And, thanks to its official water resistance rating of 200 meters (20 bars), you can use it for some serious diving!
Baume & Mercier Riviera Magnum XXL (ref. 8835)
Inspired by the legendary Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore, the Baume & Mercier Riviera Magnum XXL (ref. 8835 aka MOA08835) is a relatively affordable piece of gadgetry for those not willing to spend a fortune on the real thing (or, as I think I need to add after meditating a minute or two on the subject sometime after this brief review was already published, it is not fair to use such a degrading combination of words as “a real thing” implying that this one is just a shameless ripoff: I think of it as more of an “homage” to the famous ROO, which is one of the best forms of flattery if you want my opinion.)
Concord C1 Biretrograde Automatic (ref. 0320045)
At the last Baselworld 2009 trade show, Concord has revealed several new models from their C1 family of deliberately rugged timekeepers. Among others, the new collection included an outrageous QuantumGravity, as well as some variations on their more practical C1 Chronograph family. Predictably, they all looked good (or, at least, acceptable for someone who is into this kind of industrial design,) but it was the C1 Biretrograde (ref. 0320045) collection that I liked the most.
Ulysse Nardin Executive Dual Time GMT Collection
Last March, Ulysse Nardin has introduced its then-new Executive Dual Time GMT collection that featured an uncommon second time-zone display. While most currently available timekeepers with a GMT functionality usually employ a secondary hour-hand pointer that circles around a 24-hour scale (with an optional city disk on the bezel), this one uses an indicator, which is not easier to grasp at a single glance but also takes a lot less space on the dial to ensure cleaner, more aesthetic look.
